Wicker Baskets in Special Weave

In this category you can view baskets by the way they are woven. Some weavings are traditional, while many others are latest inovation by artistic weavers.

1. Coiled BasketsFlat Baskets | Half Baskets | Handle Baskets
Coiled Baskets originate in Rattan baskets. It is very difficult to apply this technique on Willow baskets. Willow is not long and uniform like Rattan is.
It took the Chinese a whole generation to master the technique.

2. Harvest BasketsNon Handle Baskets | Rigid Handle Baskets | Collapsible Handle
This is the traditional basket weaving method of Northern China. Farmers pound the willow sticks flat, then make into tight weave. The baskets are so tight that there is no opening any where.
Thus farmers can use the baskets to hold their grains and call them Harvest Baskets.

3. Twisted Weave Design
This is a weave that the Chinese farmers invented in the 70's. It caught on quickly and became popular amongDesigners and Decorators.

4. Wood Slat BasketsHandle Baskets | Baskets without Handle
These baskets are made of wood slats. The technique was first used by native Americans. You can find these baskets in many native American museums.
